On Friday, June 10, workshops for primary school students were organized. The meeting was attended by teachers and students representing educational institutions from Gdańsk (SP1, SP2; SP15; SP18; SP20; SP23; SP55; SP59; SP76), from Sopot (SP9); from Gościszew, Żuków and Stegna. The classes were held as part of the Regional Mini Conference of Student Local Governments co-organized with the Foundation of Social and Professional Initiatives PERSPEKTYWA financed by the grant of the Fund of Civic Initiatives of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy. The workshop was conducted by: dr hab. Beata Grobelna, Dr. Artur Giełdoń and Dr. Aleksandra Bielicka-Giełdoń.

On Tuesday, June 7, chemical workshops were held for students from two different schools: School of Sports Championship No. 3 in Gdańsk and I High School: Antoni Osuchowski in Cieszyn. It is worth mentioning that high school students interested in chemistry came to the Faculty of Chemistry from a city located on the “other end” of Poland. Classes with junior high school students (pupils from the volleyball section) were conducted by Kornelia Kowalska. The supervisor of the second group of young people was Dr. Henryk Myszka. Both groups of students performed experiments on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped them.

On Tuesday, 24 May, a group of high school students from XIV LO: Nicolaus Copernicus in Gdynia participated in the chemical workshop. The students realized the topic “Components of chromium and manganese”. The classes were led by Agnieszka Fiszka-Borzyszkowska. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped them with their experiments.

On Tuesday, May 17, the chemistry workshops were attended by students from the Secondary School: Feliks Nowowiejski in Braniewo. It is worth mentioning that among the students of our Faculty, many come from this high school. The theme “Chromium and Manganese Compounds” was implemented by the youth. High school students were assisted by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists. The classes were led by PhD students, graduates of this high school, Agata Gitlin-Domagalska and Natalia Ptaszyńska, who had the opportunity to meet their chemistry teacher from the high school.

On Tuesday, May 17, two groups of students from the I High School in Gdańsk: Nicolaus Copernicus took part in workshops organized by Dr. Bożena Karawajczyk from the Department of Didactics and Popularization of Science. The meeting was organized as a way of thanking the school for the opportunity to conduct classes with students as part of the subject Didactics of Chemistry – Practice II in its classes. The preparation of classes and supporting students in solving problems were attended by students of the second year of second-cycle Chemistry, participants of the Teaching Module.

On Tuesday, May 10, two groups of students from the First High School: Nicolaus Copernicus in Gdańsk took part in workshops organized by Dr. Bożena Karawajczyk from the Department of Didactics and Popularization of Science. Young people carried out experiments in the field of testing the properties of selected chemical compounds. The workshops were prepared by second-year students of Chemistry, second-cycle students, participants of the Teaching Module, who also supported high school students in performing chemical experiments. In this way, the school was thanked for the opportunity to conduct classes with students as part of the subject Didactics of Chemistry – "Practice II".

On Tuesday, May 10, the workshop was attended by two groups of students, one from middle school and one from high school. The first one was created by students from the Public Gymnasium in Puck, who carried out experiments on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. Kornelia Kowalska conducted the workshops with this group. The second group consisted of young people from the XIV LO. Nicolaus Copernicus in Gdynia. The students performed experiments related to the topic “Chromium and manganese compounds”, and the classes were led by Agnieszka Fiszka-Borzyszkowska. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped young people to carry out experiments.

On Tuesday, 10 May, two groups of students from the V High School in Gdańsk took part in a workshop prepared by Dr. Małgorzata Czaja. Students performed experiments in the field of recognition of oxidants and reducers and amphoteric properties of compounds. The work of individual groups was supervised by: Dr. Małgorzata Czaja from the Department of Didactics and Popularization of Science and Dr. Krzysztof Żamojć  from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. The students were supported in their laboratory work by students of the first and second year of second-cycle Chemistry, students of the Teacher Education Module.

On Friday, 29 April, students of the first year of second-cycle Chemistry, participants of the Teacher Education Module, conducted demonstrations of chemical experiments for students of Junior High School No. 7: Merited Seafarers. The meeting was organized as a thank you to the school for providing regular classes for two groups of students in the subject: Didactics of Chemistry – Practice at School. The classes were organized by Dr. Bożena Karawajczyk from the Department of Didactics and Popularization of Science.

On Tuesday, April 26, two groups of junior high school students (I class) from Gymnazjum No. 28 from Gdańsk-Morena took part in the chemical workshop. The students carried out chemical experiments on the topic “Basics of laboratory work”. The first group was supervised by Kornelia Kowalska, the second by Agnieszka Fiszka - Borzyszkowska. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped them with their experiments.

On Tuesday, April 26, two groups of students from the V High School in Gdańsk took part in a workshop prepared by Dr. Małgorzata Czaja from the Department of Didactics and Popularization of Science. Young people performed experiments in the field of: real and colloidal solutions, dissociation, hydrolysis, electrochemistry. The supervisors of the groups were: Dr. Małgorzata Czaja and Dr. Krzysztof Żamojć. High school students were supported by students of the first year of second degree studies, participants of the Teaching Module.

On Tuesday, April 19, the workshop was attended by two groups of high school students. The first group consisted of students from I LO: Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Sopot, and the other young people from XXIV LO: Stefan Banach in Gdańsk. Both groups worked on the topic “Chromium and Manganese Compounds”. The classes were conducted by Zofia Jelińska and Wioleta Białobrzeska, and students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped them with their experiments.

On Tuesday, April 12, two groups of junior high school students attended the chemical workshop. The first group consisted of students from Gymnasium No. 16 in Gdańsk - alumni of the Faculty of Chemistry, Anna Neumann, and the second group consisted of students from Gymnasium No. 25 in Gdańsk, who are also taught chemistry by our graduate - Dr. Katarzyna Czarnobaj. Both groups implemented the topic “Basics of laboratory work”, and classes were led by Kinga Westphal and Marcin Czapla. The students were assisted by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists.

On 5 April, on Tuesday, two groups of students from the Catholic High School: John Paul II in Gdynia took part in the workshop. The chemistry teacher at this school is a graduate of the Faculty of Chemistry, Dr. Piotr Malecha. Both groups carried out the topic “Chromium and Manganese Compounds”, and the classes were led by Anna Rybińska and Ewelina Wyrzykowska. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped them with their experiments.

On Tuesday, January 26, two groups of students from the Second High School in Sopot took part in a workshop organized by Dr. Alicja Boryło from the Laboratory of Environmental Analysis and Radiochemistry and Dr. Waldemar Nowicki from the Department of Didactics and Popularization of Science. Young people performed experiments on basic types of inorganic compounds.

On Tuesday, April 5, two groups of students from the V High School in Gdańsk took part in workshops led by students of the Teacher Education Module. The work of individual groups was supervised by: Małgorzata Czaja PhD from the Department of Didactics and Popularization of Science and Dr. Dariusz Wyrzykowski from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. The topic of the meeting was the study of the influence of physical factors on the rate of chemical reactions, catalysis and the study of the reversibility of chemical reactions.

On 15 March, for the second time, two groups of students from XIX LO: Marian Mokwa in Gdańsk took part in the chemistry workshop. Every year, many graduates of this school study at our Faculty of Chemistry. Teams of high school students implemented the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”, and classes were led by Anna Rybińska and Marcin Czapla. The students were assisted by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists.

On 8 March, two groups of high school students from I LO: Bolesław Chrobry in Grudziadz. Students from this city visited our Faculty for the first time. It is worth mentioning that every year several graduates of this high school study chemistry with us. High school students carried out experiments on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. One youth team was led by Anna Rybińska, the other by Ewelina Wyrzykowska. In both groups, students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped the students with their experiments. During the visit to our Faculty, students visited our largest auditorium, chemical laboratories and visited the NMR laboratory.

During the summer semester, chemical workshops coordinated by Dr. Henryk Myszka are held on Tuesdays. On March 1st, two groups of students from I LO: Hieronim Derdowski in Kartuzy (it is worth mentioning that several graduates of this school study chemistry at our Faculty every year). High school students performed chemical experiments on the topic “Chromium and manganese compounds”. The first group of high school students was looked after by a teacher from this school and at the same time a graduate of the Faculty of Chemistry, Dr. Anna Bychowska, and the second group was looked after by Dr. Henryk Myszka. In both groups, students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped the students to perform the experiments.

On Wednesday, January 13, a chemical workshop was held, attended by two groups of students, one from Secondary High School in Gdynia, the other from Junior High School No. 2 in Sopot. Both groups carried out chemical experiments on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. The group of high school students was led by Justyna Bednarko, and the junior high students by Milena Reszka. In both groups, students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped the students to perform the experiments.

On Wednesday, December 9, 2015, two groups of high school students took part in the chemical workshops, the first from LO im. Wincenty Pole in Czersk and the other from I LO: Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Sopot. Students from distant Czersk visited our Faculty for the first time. They carried out experiments on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. The same experiments were performed by students from Sopot. The first of these groups was led by Anna Rybińska, and the second by Justyna Bednarko. Students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists assisted them during their experiments.

On 25 November 2015 we hosted two groups of high school students from Gdańsk, the first from XX LO: Zbigniew Herbert, the second from XXIV LO: Stefan Banach. Both teams worked on the topic “Chemical Elements and Their Reactions”. The classes were led by Justyna Bednarko and Ewelina Wyrzykowska. During the experiments, the young people were supported by members of the Scientific Circle of Chemists.

On Wednesday, November 18, 2015, two groups of students participated in the chemistry workshop. The first of them were students from the Gymnasium No. 12 in Gdynia, with whom Anna Rybińska conducted classes on the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions”. The same topic was dealt with by the second group of young people, which was formed by high school students from XX LO: Zbigniew Herbert from Gdańsk. They worked under the supervision of Ewelina Wyrzykowska. During the workshops the students were supported by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists.

On Wednesday, 04 November 2015, two groups of students took part in chemical workshops: from I LO: Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Tczew and from Gymnazjum Sportowy No. 24 in Gdańsk. High school students, who were looked after by Dr. Anna Barabaś, implemented the topic “Basics of laboratory work”. Secondary school students carried out experiments related to the topic “Chemical elements and their reactions” under the supervision of Dr. Marcin Czapla. The students were helped in the laboratory work by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists.

On Wednesday, October 28, 2015, the second chemistry workshop was held, attended by students from Junior High School No. 5: Sejmu Polskiego in Słupsk. The young people carried out experiments covering the topic “Basics of laboratory work”, and the workshops were led by:  Alicja Mikołajczyk and Marcin Czapla. In both groups, students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists helped the students with their laboratory work.

The topic of the meeting is “Hydrocarbons”.

On Wednesday, October 21, 2015, we started another cycle of chemical workshops for schools. The first classes were attended by two groups of students, from Gdańsk Gymnasium No. 25 and from Gdańsk Gymnasium No. 2: J. Hewelius in Żukowo. All junior high school students implemented the theme, i.e. “Basics of laboratory work”. The workshop was led by PhD students of the Faculty of Chemistry, Justyna Bednarko and Magdalena Alenowicz. The young people were supported by students from the Scientific Circle of Chemists.
